    I just changed the port side power pack now when i turn the ignition switch to start the starter motor won't spin. starter worked fine before i changed the pack. everything is hooked up as it was with the old pack. any help is appreciated, thanks.

    There are two small 3/8" hex nut terminals on the starter solenoid... one nut has a black wire leading to ground..... the other terminal, probably a yellow/red wire should have 12v applied to it when the key is turned to the START position... does it?

    If not, jiggle the throttle handle around a bit as the saftey neutral switch does get out of adjustment occasionally.

    Do you have the regular white OMC control box or a console top mount arrangement?

      joe. you got it. neutral saftey switch, i din't have the throttle handle in the right position. started right up, knew it was something simple just got overlooked.

        It can be adjusted simply by loosening the retaining screws so that you can shove it slightly closer to the cam.

          Had the same issue with the 115 hp, close to the same year. The epoxy that hold the magnets in place, inside the starter, had let go. Magnets got spun, and cracked, and jammed.. it's easy enough to look I side the starter. I bought a new starter.
