Hi all, this is my first post on this forum. I'll start by apologizing for any rules broken as all the other forums have begun with a scolding about reading the rules. I am new to outboards and factory service manual is on it's way. I have been gathering materials for an old boat that I am renovating. I came across a steal of a deal on and 1967 Johnson Super Seahorse 40. All the other forums at this time have me completely confused. It is a RDS-29E. Other forums insist its an electric shift model but it has mechanical shift linking opposite the throttle linkage. What I am in search of is first controls and second a solid wiring diagram. There is a wire harness that I can not make heads or tails of and two single wire harnesses. Hopefully the service manual will provide some clarity but if anybody is familiar with this model, I'd be happy to have any input. The former owner replaced the gear oil and water pump impeller before I bought it.

It could be either, we don't have any catalogs past 1968 so I'm not sure. Look to see it has mechanical shift linkage going down to lower unit or a wire harness going down through engine pan.
