checked voltage at starter and its 12.7 then i try to crank and it goes to 4 or less.same on both sides of solonoid and at starter.was great before i did a vro disconect.stumped,i didnt disconect anything extra that i know of.any help will be greatly appreciated,john

Sounds like you battery is bad or your starter is dragging to much.

low voltage
jumped the starter and it cranked fine,with starter hooked up still drops to 4volts unhooked its the same on each side of solonoid when its tried to crank,could it be solonoid causing voltage drop or starter.is there a way to check both before i start throwing parts at it.any help will be greatly appreciated john

If the solenoid is the problem, then it would show high voltage on battery side and low voltage on the starter side. This would indicate the solenoid is not connecting propperly.
