  • sputtering and stalling problems

i have a 1993 20 hp johnson j20eets outboard. it had been in storage for 4 or 5 yrs, outside. just recantly got it on the boat to use. motor runs fine at high speeds but on idle it will pop and spudder and eventually stall. i have removed the carb and cleaned best i could. also inspected the fuel pump and it looks ok. put some gum out and seafoam in fuel plus new spark plugs. inspected lines , tank ball and connections .anything to do with fuel.tried adjusting the low speed screw but it doesan't seem to do anything. still have the same problem. thinking maybe its electical at this point. defective coil?also would like to know about the primer solonoid. what is its primary purpose? does it replace the choke. can you run the motor without it? thank you for any help you can give me.

You will need to remove the carburetor again, there is still a clogged air/fuel passage.
