  • 1994 johnson 48 spl won't tilt up

I have a 48 SPL that won't tilt up. I turn the handle and fells like it is locked down. Tried spraying WD 40 on it, because it has set for a while. Thanks

If oil doesn't loosen up may have to use heat to get loose enough to take apart, clean and replace bushings.

Just found out cylinder is gone. Shop said a new one is about 475.00. The owner said he had a used jack plate he could put on for a total of 350.00. Never had a jack plate. Do these work well on pontoons? Need some advice please. Thanks.

They are power tilt brackets available that look like a jack plate and will work on pontoons, but a jack plate only lifts motor vertically and doesn't trim motor out.
