  • 1972 seahorse 9.5 won't run

I have a 9R72M that won't stay running. It will start and run but not very well but once you try to give it the gas it dies. I have had the carb off a couple of times sprayed carb cleaner in every hole I can put it back together same thing. Could it be the fuel pump? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check compression is ok. Probably need to have carb soaked and cleaned throughly.

A buddy found the problem today! I would have bet it was a carburetor problem. Turns out the wires to the kill switch were missing insulation and corroded. I guess it was trying to kill the engine because of the missing insulation but the wires were so corroded it wouldn't quite kill it until it was throttled up.
