hi all, this is a new to me boat/motor. the previous owner told me it had problems idling. would start and run great, just not idle. the Quickstart worked, 1100rpms and would drop off to 700 and continue to drop until it would die. Had the motor rebuilt due to some cylinder wall scoring on one bank. when the rebuilder put it back together he could not get it to idle, spent 6/8 hours making adjustments and will idle at about 400rpms. now the Quickstart still works only at 700/800rpms and drops off to 400. there has to be some simple adjustment that is being over looked? i have ordered new rollers and cams, parts that look could be worn out. have not put them on yet. just looking for that simple adjustment!

Might have him recheck compression to make sure cylinders are even. If he was unable to adjust it then may be an air in intake manifold or crankcase, possible a reed valve open too much.
