1983 35hp won't pee

Motor stopped peeing so I replaced the entire water pump(which it needed) but still won't pee. Is it the thermostat? Can't find any obstructions in the line. Thanks

Thermostat wont affect water flow at tell tale. Try using compressed air to blow though tell tale to clear any blockage. Can try to backflow with water if don't have an air compressor.

used air to blow through the system, and I'm getting air, but still no water. any other ideas?

Make sure lower unit is deep enough in water for the water pump to prime itself(water pump has to be completely submerged) If you see any smoke come out the tell tale then may have blown head gasket. Try removing thermostat and back flush with garden hose to loosen any blockage n water passage.
