Johnson drive shaft

I have a 1965 Johnson 9.5hp, model MQ-11C. Can anyone tell me the difference between a 309639 and 309640 drive shaft? sps

309639 is a 15 inch transom height model and the 309640 is a 20 inch model

I am converting a 1968 Johnson 9.5 hp from long shaft to short shaft. Can anyone tell me what seal goes between the water pump impeller housing and the tube that the drive shat runs through. I need to remove the 5" long exhaust housing spacer which has seals on both ends but neither of those seals seem to be correct. sps
