No start/idle without primer

1984 50hp won’t start or idle unless the ignition primer button is kept pushed in. It starts and idles great but dies when the primer button is released. Clogged fuel pump maybe?

Carb needs to be removed and cleaned it's getting fuel to carb(or it would not run at all) but jets or passages in carb are restricted.

Carb needs to be removed and cleaned it's getting fuel to carb(or it would not run at all) but jets or passages in carb are restricted.

Carbs removed, cleaned in the ultrasonic, and replaced with OEM re-build kit. The bowls were full of what I would describe as wet brown sugar. Fuel pump screen and gasket replaced too.

Started right up and idles smooth. Thanks.
