1976 Johnson 85

I cant get enough movement to get the forward and reverse to lock in, if sdjust the trunion to lock the frward gear the reverse is not quite there if I adjust for reverse forward is not quite there. I've installed new cables same result, replaced the bushings in the pivot belcranks on the engine.

I was thinking of changing to a 2 lever Uflex control box which has more throw. A freind has said to replace the gear in the present control box.

Has anybody had this problem, and what did you do to solve it?

Sounds like there is a problem within control box, something has too much wear.
