  • gages not working

When I turn on the ignition key the engine starts but the dashboard gages do not work: the Tach, the tilt, the fuel, the red lights on the tach.

Any tips on where to start?

I checked the fuses, they seemd ok but I changed them anyway.

It is a purple wire problem. It goes down under the floor from the ignition switch and has power at the engine but no power when it comes back up through the floor to go to the instrument panel and the warning horn. I cannot find the other end of that wire.

I jumped it temporarily from the Ignition switch side, but I am curious where the other end of that wire is. I cannot believe the harness people would tap off from the section under the floor. But that is what it looks like so far.

The purple wire is 12 volts key on power to operate gauges. It normally runs from key switch to gauges and also to engine by way of main harness to engine.
