  • Removing flywheel

This may be rudimentary but I need to remove the flywheel in my Johnson 9 1/2. It has never been removed in 43 years and the nut has become frozen in place. Any ideas how to keep the flywheel stable while I crank on the socket? I have a puller once the nut is off. Thanks

There is such a tool in the marine trade... a long handle that has a belt of sorts attached to it which would go around the flywheel, then back under the tool and through a slot to lock it in place.

With that explanation, perhaps a auto parts supple store would have a similar tool to hold smaller pulleys in place?
