Lower unit rebuild

I have a 2000 90 hp VLSSS that I need to re-work. Are there any special tools I will need for this project? The gear set might need to be replaced...not sure until I get it apart.

There are special tools needed to correctly rebuild gearcase and Factory service manual is a must. You can get manual at Ken Cook Co. | Partners in Product Documentation and it will list the tools needed.

Can you tell me whether those gears are the 90 degree or 60 degree? I think they are 60, but not sure.

The gears you need are for a 60 degree looper,part number# 436746 for foward gear and pinion as reverse is sold seperately. This is for the "bat wing" style lower unit.
