Repair question

I have a Johnson 20hp Outboard---pull start---Year 1988 #J20CRLCCA.The shaft that holds the shift lever broke. The part # is 0394574 and is available for order. I need to know if there are other items I need to purchase also. Looks like I have to remove the mid-section and motor to replace the shaft. How complicated of job is it and will I need other caskets or parts to replace the shaft for the shifter?

You will need the powerhead gasket 0330621, that should be all you require in addition to what you have previously mentioned.
